SPOT IT ON!

I recently spotted this Innovation Entrepreneur book at work, when my work friend needed to do a marketing brochure. It's a book designed by Wiley in the UK. We were admiring the circles that it actually looks quite unique. Then, later at night I found this Idea Spotting by Sam Harisson.

I am not so sure how Sam Harisson's book supposed to help, but I guess it does work! One of the exercises that he recommends to get the creativity started is to Be a Borrower. He said the next big idea is out there you just need to know how to spot it on. I found some of the excerpt from How magazine blog, which you can read in here.

I am pretty sure that the designer who designed the book spotted this Idea Spotting book somewhere or he/she even have the book on his/her desk. It is our nature as designers to be inspired by our surrounding. So I won't question the similarity between both books any further. Also. I still liking the overall looks of the book cover. It gives some colour in the boring business books cover. And definitely the designer have done much better job than the US edition (that I can't barely stand to posted in here).

Then again, it gives me enough reasons to check the Idea Spotting book on the weekend. The review on amazon wasn't bad either.

Hidamari No Tami

I’ve been just staying at home most of the time recently. But I feel good that I have some companion, that always smile to me and cheer me up everyday. My buddy just sit next to my ibook. (although, I moved him yesterday, sit next to my cactus over my window). The first time I saw him is at the Elizabeth arcade, but the price was quite expensive. So every time I pass by the store I only stop for awhile to take a look at him. Until I told my HK friends at work, that I like that doll so much. He gave me one, few days after ^^ Of course I was so happy, he picked the right one too, pink buddy as my favorite colour. I just know recently that it’s a sakura versions. My friend told me that it wasn’t expensive at Hong Kong, that’s the reason he gave me for free. I think it’s kinda true, but most of my friend at work gossiped that he had a crush on me -_-“ But it doesn’t matter, I really appreciate his kindness, well I love my sunshine buddy so much. Oh, yea Hidamari No Tami is means sunshine buddies, it purposely to help people feel relax whenever they are stress at work, study, and caught up in traffic jam as his head sway gently up and down (Nohonhon). And yes, he always smile, like sending an encouragement.

Well, I have my buddy for almost 2 years from now on. Sadly, I haven’t met my friend who gave me this after the graduations last year. Well, lets hope he is doing alright, he told me he was applying for his permanent resident too.

I wanted to give Hidamari No Tami to my best friends for her birthday presents. But since she lives at Jakarta, it is a little bit hard. I tried to look at the Elizabeth Arcade shop, they only have two left and it wasn’t really nice one. Although it was 30% discount, the price is actually cheaper than buying at ebay if its on discount price. Yes, I’ve been looking ebay, I was amazed that they have so many versions of Hidamari No Tami.
Amazing, I also found the pool at flickr. All of them is so kawaii, I guess I got hooked up with it. I’m planning to start collect them. The one that I am after is Hidamari No Tami “Umi no Sasayaki” it’s not only moved the heads left to right but its whisper the sounds of sea. I also want to have Hidamari No Tami which could dance, it moves their heads and the hands too. Hehe… imagine that it must be looked so cute. I think this little sunshine buddies is very good for presents to someone who worked a lot using a computer.

Hidamari No Tami is a product from Tomy Japan, but this buddy is not the only cute item to have. They also have a cute plants named flip flap that can move like real plants too. I guess I am start become a heavy kawaii toy collector ehehhe. I just want to spread my new disease…
